Dr. Kenrik Duru received his MD from the University of California, San Francisco in 1996. He went on to complete his residency and internship in Internal Medicine at Cook County Hospital and the University of Chicago hospital and his fellowship at the UCLA in 2003. He has been part of UCLA’s Division of GIM/HSR since 2004. Dr. Duru’s research interests include translating evidence-based recommendations on diabetes to real-world settings and studying how shared decision-making may help patients make better decisions that reflect their personal value. He was involved with research collaborations between UCLA and United HealthCare on diabetes management and developed a community-based project to increase physical activity among older African American women in South Los Angeles.
