Ms. Reyes is the community outreach director for UVAS, in addition to being outreach director for the NIA-funded Community Liaison Core of the UCLA Resource Center for Minority Aging Research, the UCLA Clinical and Translational Science Institute Special Populations Program, and the Stakeholder Engagement Core of the NIA-funded U.S Deprescribing Research Network (USDeN). Ms. Reyes is an active participant in the national research community on “low-value care,” including serving as co-chair for the 2019/2020 Thematic Working Group on Low-Value Care convened by AcademyHealth, the ABIM Foundation and the Donaghue Foundation. This working group explores opportunities to reduce the provision of low-value care while concurrently implementing high-value care services. The group specifically focuses on addressing low-value care among African American and Latinx populations. Previously, Ms. Reyes served on the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) Advisory Panel on Addressing Disparities, where she represented the needs and interests of patients, caregivers and patient advocates. She recently served as a member of the California Commission on Aging and is a member and taskforce leader on the L.A. County Commission for Older Adults. Ms. Reyes is bilingual (English/Spanish) and has more than 40 years of experience in the field of health and human services, with an emphasis on aging and social justice issues in ethnically diverse communities.
